I recently wrote a diary that was not well received for a number of reasons. My reasons for writing this diary include clearing up mis-conceptions about the "hit and run" nature of the piece, addressing a core value of the Democratic Party, answering specific critics, and most importantly, acknowledging that the earlier piece wasn't well written and putting forward some reasons why that was the case.
Before I head below the fold, I'd like to thank those responsible for removing the Hunter quote - a spin-off of Dick Cheney's 1% solution - from the FAQ, whoever they may be.
I know this seems strange, I actually couldn't believe it, especially in view of Kos' views on criticism. Ironically, it seems BillO isn't the only one who likes to shut off peoples mics. Take a trip below the fold for more.
Sometimes I watch politicians in total amazement that they can say so many "stupid" things and still get elected. I can't think of one politician who hasn't "impressed" me in this way. Far too many times I've seen them on television missing golden opportunities to set the record straight or to cut through dishonest Republican talking points. These failings don't make them my enemy.
Recently people have been dumping on Kucinich for a variety of reasons. I don't mind honest criticism of any candidate. But, the dishonesty in many of the criticisms of Kucinich has really put me off. You see, the main reason I'm a lefty is because I think there is truth in our message. With that I bring you something positive about Kucinich...
After our historic electoral sweep I found myself looking forward to my lunch with George today. I was sure, now that we hold both legislative branches, he would surely revert to his Texas bipartisan ways. Of course, being a Republican, he thought he could buy me off with a free meal the same way he bought off my esteemed colleagues on the other side of the isle.
This diary is not meant to be inflammatory. If you find it so, please accept that it is written as carefully as possible (for me) in an effort to discuss a delicate issue without offending those who hold a different view.
There are those who won't write about this subject because they feel the fighting over Israel will continue until the people "over there" are tired of it. I have a different view. There will be no peace until there is justice. In order to determine what constitutes justice we must examine some things. If you're so inclined, follow me...
I've been watching the retired military on Late Edition and am thoroughly disgusted. One general, Batiste?, is laying the blame for Haditha at the feet of Rumsfeld. He cites how dissenting ideas were shot down and the dissenters rebuked. The dissent he refers to is about troop levels and invasion strategies. I have a different view...
A recent diary proposed a Catch-22 for our soldiers in Iraq. While I found the diary interesting I'm writing this diary to put forward my objections to the current fawning over military service that is happening here and in our society in general. Now, please realize I'm not saying military service is bad; I'm more concerned with those who say they've sacraficed so people like me can be free. My answer to those folks is below the fold...
