It's been a busy week here at Protect Colorado's Future.
On Monday, we were one of several groups that submitted petitions to the Secretary of State to place initiatives on the November ballot. We are proud to say that over 130,000 Coloradans joined us in signing petitions on behalf of the Just Cause initiative, a common sense measure that will protect good workers from being fired arbitrarily. Many voters who signed the petitions were shocked to learn that in Colorado you can be fired "at will" for taking a sick day, for your political views or even for having a bad haircut. With the unemployment rate in Colorado higher than it's been in almost 3 years, we believe this measure is critically important to Colorado's families and we are looking forward to seeing it on the ballot.
I don't know about you -- but I found this McCain campaign ad "The One" to be one of the most offensive ads we have seen in American politics to date.
At best, this ad implies that those who plan to support Senator Obama are looking for a new savior or a replacement Messiah. But many are reading it even more darkly as an attempt to portray Obama as an anti-Christ figure.
And yes, Tucker is an arsehole and McCain=Brittney. Whatever.
Now that Ive got your attention, PLEASE click the #!%$%!!$!#&^$#!! Kucinich impeachment Petition.... or pass it on, comment to show you did, that you cared, that you didnt care but did your duty... just put some attention on it.
I see Newt got a million sigs on a petition for drilling. Yet Dennis has ONLY a few hundred thousand for saving the republic! How pathetic. There is a deadline at the midnight hour - tonight!
For those of you kossacks who were not aware of the deadline to add your name to Kucinich's Impeachment petition go to http://kucinich.us/ and add your name to the petition.
I got an email today from Robert Greenwald of Brave New Films explaining that the House Judiciary Committee is about to vote Karl Rove in contempt of Congress. Greenwald is hosting a video and petition (with 108,579 signers already) to keep the pressure on the Committee to sent Rove to jail. You can help put Rove behind bars...
Twenty-three soldiers from the Seventh Calvary were later awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for the slaughter of defenseless Indians at Wounded Knee.
We are asking that these Medals of DIS Honor awarded to the members of the 7th Calvary of the United States Army for the murder of innocent women children and men on that terrible December morning be rescinded.
I have an idea for taking on the language of racial innuendo on Fox News that I'm hoping many of you can get behind.
Last night, I was reading a thread, Fox News: Racism Is Their Marketing Plan. UPDATED w/Colbert Video, on the 620,000 petitions--collected by MoveOn and Color of Change—that had been delivered to Fox News asking them to rein in their racial innuendo / hate speech. Fox refused these petitions, which were presented later that night by the rapper Nas on the Colbert Report.
I got the idea, prompted by a comment KingOneEye, the thread's diarist, that copies of these petitions should next be submitted to Fox's principle sponsors, such as Toyota. Sponsors might get seriously queasy if they are called on Fox New's frequently revolting and incendiary racist propaganda.
Just when you think that Mike Savage has sunk to his lowest, he manages to skim a few more inches out of the pool.
He's now claiming that autism is a fraud. On July 16 Savage claimed that autism is a fraud and a racket and that children with autism where nothing more than brats with parents who didn't know how to discipline them.
As a mother of a child with autism I'm appalled, and I am pleading for all of you to help to remove this vile person from the airwaves.
From tomorrow, Monday, July 21 through Thursday, July 24, Pastor John Hagee will be in Washington, D.C. to lead the national gathering of his infamous Christians United For Israel. The CUFI conference is studded with rightwing zealots and features workshops like "Radical Islam: In Their Own Words," led by neo-conservative Daniel Pipes and former right-wing Senator Rick Santorum; and "The Basics of The Arab Israeli Conflict," led by representatives of the pro-occupation David Project and StandWithUS and Gary Bauer, president of anti-choice, homophobic American Values.
Unbelievably, the Anti Defamation League (ADL), the supposed bigotry watchdog, has not condemned Hagee for his anti semitic, anti gay, anti Muslim rhetoric.
It was a bit of a hit for me to find out that the head of Bolthouse Farms Organic produce and smoothies is an asshole who has given $100,000 to fund the gay marriage constitutional ban in CA., particularly since I have been a fan of their Berry Blast smothies for years. Talk about William Bolthouse cutting off his nose; I mean who does he think drinks organic fruit smoothies? Really?
Well, I'll tell you one homo who doesn't. Not anymore, anyways. Not Bolthouse Farms, in any case, and never again.
To: The New President and Congress, The undermining of the middle class which has been going on during the long stranglehold of the Republican, takeover, is finally killing it.
Their mission seems to appear, accomplished but I think they may be scratching their heads and realizing, although, perhaps too late, that this isn't exactly what they intended. If you kill an organism too quickly during torture you didn't do it correctly. The goal is to distress the servitor just enough to show who's boss but hold back a bit as to not finish 'em off.
Well, what was bound to happen ... happened and the middle class is gasping its last breath.
Please sign this petition to suggest to companies that they should clearly mark food and beauty items that contain no animal products.
Even if you are not a vegetarian, please help out those who are.
This is my first diary so let me apologize in advance for the format but I was in a hurry to get this diary posted.
All Obama supporters and democrats alike must come together and stop Larry Sinclair from having his "press conference" at the National Press Club (NPC).
Since he began his campaign Obama has been the victim of scurrilous rumors trying to paint him as "unpatriotic", "exotic and radical" (all code words for black or too black and every white person must be afraid), "muslim" (which he is NOT), "elite", and "out of touch" to name a few. Larry Sinclair is a part of the smear that could have a damaging effect despite it being untrue. Everyone must take the time to contact the NPC and ask them why they are allowing such an event to take place on their site.
I am getting my information, and therefore am giving a shoutout to Democrats.com.
Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) read his Articles of Impeachment on Monday.
Robert Wexler (D-FL 19) co-sponsored on Tuesday.
Lynn Woolsey (D-CA 06) co-sponsored on Wednesday.
Barbara Lee (D-CA 09) co-sponsored today.
And rightfully so, according to my grandmother, who I just called.**
And who he thinks is best for us. He's heard us. He's heard the Clinton supporters, and he's heard the Republican attacks. It's all well-documented and he's going to do what he and his staff thinks is best.
Why?
Because that's why we voted for him. To make decisions and solve problems.
Liz Trotta, may think assassination is funny but most people DO NOT! Most people, are appalled that we live in a world where people are shot, maimed, blown up or mutilated because they are trying to create a better place for mankind. Our country has gone through some grievous times with the assassination of a president, the shooting of another president, the murder of a man of peace who's passion was to see that all people get what the constitution awards, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and a bullet to the head of a man campaigning for the highest position of the land while still grieving over his own brother's murder.
We still haven't completely healed from all the wanton destruction this country has encountered. For someone to go on the airwaves, the people's airwaves and joke about an execution type slaying of Barack Obama is loathsome to no end. If she is allowed continued TV appearances by simply uttering a little unrepentant apology, none of us should stand for it.
